    Exhaust Pop Component

    ExhaustPopComponent inspector

    Exhaust backfire pops/bangs during deceleration, gear shifts, or rev limiter events. Common on performance vehicles.

    Trigger Sources

    Pop Source determines what triggers the exhaust pop:

    • ExhaustFlash: Pops triggered by exhaust flash visual effects (requires ExhaustFlash effect configured)
    • RevLimiter: Pops triggered when engine hits rev limiter

    Both sources use the popChance probability (0-1) to determine if a pop occurs.

    Features

    Pop on Deceleration: Random pops when throttle released and RPM > 40%

    • Uses decelerationPopChanceCoeff multiplier
    • Lower volume/pitch than rev limiter pops
    • Only fires while the engine is running (not while cranking, stalled, or coasting with ignition off)

    Pop on Shift: Pops during gear changes under load

    • Only triggers when RPM > 50% and throttle > 50%
    • Loud, aggressive pops (1.3x volume)

    Configuration

    • popSource: ExhaustFlash or RevLimiter trigger
    • popChance: Probability per trigger event (0.1 = 10%)
    • minPopInterval: Minimum seconds between pops across all triggers (default 0.25). Floors the rate so the rev limiter doesn't spray a continuous burble when throttle is held against it.
    • popOnDeceleration: Enable random deceleration pops
    • decelerationPopChanceCoeff: Frequency multiplier for deceleration pops
    • popOnShift: Enable pops during gear changes
    • clips: Assign 3-5 pop/bang audio clips
    • baseVolume: Overall volume (default 0.3)

    Setup

    1. Enable in SoundManager
    2. Assign 3-5 pop/bang clips for variation
    3. Choose popSource (ExhaustFlash or RevLimiter)
    4. Set popChance (0.5-1.0 for aggressive, 0.1-0.3 for occasional)
    5. Enable popOnDeceleration and/or popOnShift as needed
    6. Adjust decelerationPopChanceCoeff if deceleration pops too frequent

    Suitable for sports cars, race cars, turbocharged vehicles.
