    Engine Running Component

    EngineRunningComponent inspector.

    Engine audio from multiple RPM samples crossfaded through an AudioMixer based on engine RPM and load.

    Features

    Setup

    1. Add multiple audio samples to Engine Samples, each recorded at different RPM
    2. Set Base RPM for each sample to match its recording RPM
    3. Configure AudioMixer exposed parameters: EngineVolume, EngineLowPass, EngineDistortion, EngineReverb
    4. Adjust smoothing for transition speed and crossfadeCurve for blend behavior

    Key Properties

    Property Description
    smoothing SmoothDamp time for RPM/load transitions (default: 0.15s)
    loadVolumeBias Volume reduction when coasting (0-1, default: 0.5)
    loadVolumeBoostDB Volume boost in dB when under load (default: 4dB)
    loadLowPassBoost Lowpass frequency boost in Hz when under load (default: 6000Hz)
    maxDistortion Maximum distortion level at full load (0-1, default: 0.5)
    loadPitchBias Pitch increase when engine is under load (default: 0.1)

    Mixer Parameters

    Configure these exposed parameters in your AudioMixer:

    mixerVolumeParam Volume control (default: "EngineVolume")
    mixerLowPassParam Lowpass filter frequency (default: "EngineLowPass")
    mixerDistortionParam Distortion level (default: "EngineDistortion")
    mixerReverbParam Reverb mix (default: "EngineReverb")

    Notes

    • Samples are automatically sorted by RPM on initialization
    • Lowpass filter opens at high RPM and under load for realistic sound character
    • Reverb increases when coasting (off-throttle) for exhaust resonance effect
    • High distortion values reduce effective volume; compensate with loadVolumeBoostDB
